The study of medicine at "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati began in the late 1990’s with the establishment of the kinesiotherapy study program and healthcare study program. The correlation between the medical tradition in this area and the academic environment resulted in the founding of the Faculty of Medicine in 2004, by the decision of the Government of Romania as a necessary consequence of the importance and socio-economic development of this area. The educational process within the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of "Dunarea de Jos" University of Galati has a strong applicative and practical character which is moreover an asset of Galati medical education. Our main objective is to prepare to the highest standards future doctors, pharmacists, dentists, nurses and midwives who will provide high-quality healthcare in the region of the Lower Danube. The development of the faculty is supported by a modern infrastructure with spacious lecture halls, laboratories and rooms equipped at European level, access to high-performance clinics, a constantly developing computerized library, new homes, and sports facilities. Organized in three departments (Morphological and Functional Sciences, Clinical and Pharmaceutical Sciences), our medical school makes every effort to provide the society with highly qualified medical personnel. The medical school has laboratories equipped to the highest standards for the study of preclinical disciplines, as well as facilities suitable for the study of clinical subjects.
